The True Angel
Faith Fowler
I am continuing my work into the portrayal of death and how we see it. However, for his piece I wanted to use one of the most common representations of death – the angel. Angels are typically displayed as pure and beautiful beings, such as the depictions in Christine Bell’s work. Yet behind this ethereal appearance, people forget that angels do indeed represent death – they seem to be a way of beautifying death, into something that is easier to see and deal with. The aim for this piece was to still show the celestial perception of angels, but to add a twist to it – the forthright image of death.
