Kate Jones
This piece represents a number of our worse qualities as human beings; our inability to listen, to act, to see and to change – The consequences. I wanted my works exploring environmentalism to be thought-provoking – what are YOU doing to make a change? I wanted to use solely recycled materials for this artwork and in future would like to extend this to include the frame, which I could have made myself from household items.
An artist I found particularly inspiring while creating this piece was Andreas Franke – a Vienna-based photographer and specifically, his project ‘Plastic Ocean’ which features a series of works submerged in the sea to raise awareness of plastic pollution.
